OUR SHORT BREAKS OFFER

Short Breaks Mentoring

What are Short Breaks ?

What are Short Breaks ?

Absolute Mentoring is an approved provider on the Norfolk County Council Short Breaks Panel, delivering specialist 1:1 mentoring support to children and young people across Norfolk.

Our Short Breaks offer provides safe, consistent and meaningful time away from home, supporting emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.

What are Short Breaks ?

What are Short Breaks ?

What are Short Breaks ?

Short Breaks are funded support services for children and young people with additional needs. They provide structured, positive experiences outside of the family home while also offering planned respite for parents and carers.

Short Breaks should feel purposeful, supportive and tailored — not overwhelming or high-pressure.

Our 1:1 Approach

What are Short Breaks ?

What Sessions May Include

Absolute Mentoring delivers Short Breaks on a fully individual basis. This is particularly suited to young people who:

  • Find group settings difficult
  • Experience anxiety or emotional dysregulation
  • Have SEND (diagnosed or emerging needs)
  • Struggle with confidence or social interaction
  • Benefit from calm, consistent adult support

Sessions are relationship-led and built around trust. We focus on creating psychological safety first, allowing progress to happen naturally over time.

What Sessions May Include

Every mentoring programme is personalised. Sessions may include:

  • Walking and talking mentoring

  • Bushcraft and practical skill development
  • Community-based visits (parks, libraries, local spaces)
  • Emotional awareness and regulation work
  • Confidence and independence-building activities
Activities are used as a vehicle for connection, communication and emotional growth

Our Ethos

Communication & Safeguarding

  • Flexible sessions that respond to the young person’s needs
